HORSE-BACK TRIPS ITINERARY
Day 1 "Travel day"
In the morning you will meet one of our pilots in Smithers and travel via floatplane, or wheel plane to the main lodge at Black lake. There you will have gourmet lunch prepared by our chef before your introduction to the horses and gear.
After you have selected your horse for the trip you will have the opportunity to kick your feet up and relax before dinner. Enjoy canoeing, fishing, or relax in our wood fired sauna and hottub before dinner. After another wonderful meal, you will pour over maps at the lodge of your intended route with your guide and make any personal modifications necessary.
Day 2-8 "Trekking days"
After an early breakfast you will fly out to a remote lake, which will be the starting point of your adventure! You will meet your guide, cook and the horses! After that…. The rest of the trip is all up to you and your guide! We don’t want to divulge too many details, surprise is the best part of adventure!
Day 9 "Back to the Black Lake"
Day 9 you will need to be at your pickup location, where a float plane will meet you in the afternoon (or perhaps you will ride back to the Black Lake) You will fly back to the main lodge and have an opportunity to relax and kick up your feet and relax all of those tired muscles!
All camp amenities are open to you- if you still have the energy, feel free to go for a swim, a jog, or fishing. Enjoy a wonderful meal in the evening and sit in the hot tub, enjoying the vast canopy of stars up above.
Day 10 "Back to Smithers"
After brunch, you will board a float plane and return back to Smithers – where you can catch your connecting flight – or we will book you another night in a hotel.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Our horses are trained well, and we can accommodate all levels of riding experience. We will match your personality and riding ability to one of our horses, in order to give you a safe and fulfilling experience.
During your trip there will be many opportunities to go hiking, canoeing, learn to fly-fish, and reconnect with yourself and nature. On average you will spend 3-5 hours in the saddle each day. Your guide will have many traditional stores and legends to tell of the travel routes, the wildlife, and how they intertwine in Sikanni culture.
During your trip, you will have a good chance at seeing some of the local wildlife. Mountain goats live high above in the rocks and crags, where few predators dare to go! Moose will be found in the valley bottoms, around the lakes and swamps. Caribou may be seen moving gracefully across the landscape, from the mountain tops to the valleys below. Grizzly and black bears will likely be seen during your trip, but the size and stature of our horses will keep them away from any close interaction. Ensure to keep your eyes out for the old porcupine, and if you’re lucky he might just let you have a quill for a keepsake.
Each night you will enjoy time to look up at a vast canopy of stars and enjoy the quiet sounds of the wilderness – with the occasional wolf howl echoing through the valleys; be sure to ask your guides to teach you to call back to them!
You are sure to have the trip of a lifetime if you embark on one of our horse-back adventures. You will leave with a better understanding of horses, the wilderness, and your place within this beautiful world.
ACCOMMODATION
Standard accommodations will be in our wall tent or tipi camps. On clear nights, enjoy sleeping beside the fire cowboy style. Cabins are strung out across our territory and can be used if needed.
